Out walking today and found this Rufford Stourbridge brick on land where RainHill Hospital used to be.
The brick was made by Rufford & Co. Hungary Hill, Stourbridge in the West Midlands.
The company started in 1802 producing fire bricks & fire clay products, eventually closing in 1936.
Rainhill Hospital was a very large psychiatric hospital in St helens. Built in 1851 and closed in 1992.
