On the former Roughdales brickworks land. There was giant brick mound that I visited occasionally to go brick hunting, The mound has now been removed, leaving only small amounts of broken bricks and some bricks with no brickmarks scattered around the site.
However, having searched closely, I found one intact very old full Roughdales brick to add to my collection. A good find and probably, I have the contractors to thank as they must have dislodged it from somewhere within the mound. The brick can be found in the St Helens gallery as a new addition to the collection.
