Rainford Brick
This example of a Rainford Brick was found at Siding Lane Nature Reserve. Rainford (Formerly Rainford Colliery)
It was in a poor state of repair and I had to take it home to clean up the surface up and in fact repair it, has it had old mortar on the brickwork that needed to be removed. This took about half an hour and due to the cracks, it could have easily broken in two. Luckily it didn't.
The brick was made at the Rainford Brick & Tile Works, Rainford, St.Helens. I hope to donate this to the heritage centre in the village at some time in the future.
